If they suck for losing to Phoenix (Whom won more than half their games), whats that make the Devils for losing to Florida (won less than half their games, benefit by losing 18 times in OT)

Perhaps you missed that part Gary. IMO we should already be in the 2nd round we have much more talent than these little pansies and you're right they have 18 OT/SO losses. But if you dig deep Medic record-wise we aint that much better because 12 of those 48 wins were in the SO and would be ties under the old system which FTR I wish they would go back to, easier to figure out where you're at) so we'd have finished 36-30-16 under old standings. That said, if we lose tonight to me it will be a bigger disgrace than losing to Ottawa, the rags and Pittsburgh in the late 90's.

If hockey continues to grow in the USA...it will be because of the new OT rules. Americans...but nature...fucking hate ties.

Shootout is the worst thing that happened to hockey. Sure it gives you "winner" but what a lame way to determine a winner.

Just keep playing actual hockey if you want a REAL winner. That would be the true American way. Otherwise I was fine with ties and not handing out garbage points.

Playing nonstop overtime until a true winner is determined is too taxing in an already long season. I don't see what the problem is. Shootouts are exciting, and they favor the team with the better goalie...which is ultimately how it should be anyway. I guess I wouldn't be opposed to making it a 10 minute OT period first...or a full extra period...but you can't have the guys going on and on for multiple extra periods.

Do you have a problem with the 4 on 4 in OT as well?

I heard an idea that might be interesting, and even more exciting. Have one 5 minute OT of 4 on 4, then another 5 minute OT of 3 on 3, THEN goto a shoot out. Really not that much longer, yet creates the chance for a winner outside a shootout.

Or just play one extra period 5-on-5 and call the game a tie if no goal is scored. What's the problem with that?

I hate the idea of handing out a free point to a team that "wins" what is essentially an all-star weekend type exhibition. Teams should win a hockey game to earn 2 points.

4 on 4 then a 3 on 3 sounds awesome.

Bucky....it comes to whether or not you want hockey to grow in America. Americans do NOT lie ties. Ever. It's just not in our culture. Half the reason everyone hates soccer so fucking much is because of the ties.

Plus...it isn't a "free" point. If anything, the OTL is a free point, but then you are just rewarding a team for taking it to the limit.
