Wonder if Bronco fans are screaming for Orton yet...

Postby adambr2 on Oct 23rd, 2011, 1:59 pm

Tebow made a fantastic play with his legs in the 2nd when he escaped a sack and possible safety and turned it into a 21 yard run, but he has missed almost all of his wide open throws, and most of them haven't even been close.

Even a short checkdown to Moreno sailed well over Moreno's head.

The way in which he did it has got to make Denver fans ecstatic. As bad as Miami is, it was an impressive last 5 minutes.

It's still a W. In the end, that's what matters.

Yep, and the people are actually talking about the Broncos. They are relevant again. Haven't been since Jay left.

They are not relevant and have not been since Elway.

Shit. Well I'm going to shut this site down then when I get home. Nothing to discuss, just a talley of wins and losses.

I think Ryan Leaf could beat the Dolphins at this point. They are flat out terrible. Really, the Broncos are relevant again? How so? They are still a bad team and Tebow is still a bad QB. He missed receivers by like 30 yards on some plays.

They're "relevant" in that people are talking about them, not that anybody thinks they're legit playoff contenders. Although they might not be that far away in that division, with three teams that are big unknowns at this point. And most of the talk isn't about the team, just one player and whether he'll be as big a bust as many predict

Yeah, I don't think the Broncos are any good, but the fact that a ton of non Broncos fans tuned in to see the game becasue of Tebow makes him somewhat important. National media covering the Broncos like they are the Packers.

So you're saying it doesn't matter? Can you really argue against that? In the end, isn't it about the games you win and the games you lose? We can all jerk off to intangibles and various stats all we want, but ultimately none of that means shit if you're not winning.

No, when looking back on a season that's all that really matters. I wouldn't care if the Packers went 8-8 but looked really good during the season, just had some unlucky bounces, I'd still be disappointed. But when looking forward, which is what we're interested in doing with Tebow, a win or loss is far from the most important factor. He looked downright horrible for the first 55 or so minutes, but looked much better for those last 5. And if he wasn't playing an NFL team that probably wouldn't be in the top 5 of the BCS, he wouldn't have been able to come back and get the win. And really, he didn't show any improvement on what the criticisms have been of him since draft day. He's still got a very long delivery that will cause problems when a team gets a good pass rush, and he had horrible accuracy. He's still good at improvising a play and obviously running.

So your saying that since the Broncos beat a terrible team they should throw out the game film and not try to improve? And as fans we can only critisize a team or single out a player if the team looses?

Sorry, but i can't get behind that.

Of course you couldn't get behind that, because that would be completely fucking ridiculous if that's what I was actually saying, or ever came close to saying. If you're just going to put the words in my mouth, go the fuck on and have this argument by yourself.

If the Dolphins do something as simple as recover an onside kick, the "win" isn't even part of the discussion.

Kudos to Tebow for pulling it out, but the hype behind it is extremely overblown. How do we known Orton doesn't win against the same team?

Tebow has a few tricks but I don't know what you saw against the Dolphins in terms of actual ability as a pocket passer that makes you think he's going to make it as an NFL quarterback.

An NFL QB cannot make it as a long-term starter solely on the basis of being a "competitor" and "winner" and some Wildcat-style abilities. Can't happen. At some point there needs to be more.

Not saying that can't ever happen, but if what we saw is all there is, it won't.

I honestly think Tebow pumped up his defense and special teams though.

I honestly think if Tebow raped someone or killed some dogs people would like him more.

This has nothing to do with Tebow personally. Seems like a really great guy.

Just his ability to be a QB at the NFL level.
