RR- No plans to move Aramis

Postby RetardRon on Apr 18th, 2012, 10:02 am

Pure gold.. Sounds like Aramis went to the skip, told him do whats best for the team and the skip said... Na.. dont worry about it.

Going into Tuesday, Ramirez was hitting just .114 with five runs batted in. He was 3 for 24 on the Brewers' just-completed seven-game trip and is in the midst of his longest homerless streak to start a season since 2003.

"It's a slow start for him," Roenicke said. "He's not happy where he is. He came in and talked to me today. He wants to do something to help contribute to this team winning, and he feels that he isn't doing that right now.

"But I still like where he is as far as in the lineup. I think he's a guy that we're going to need to do this thing this year. If we don't have him, we don't have a good, solid fourth hitter, it's hard to get things done offensively."

This is beyond ridiculous. The first part, he makes it sound like he either has to hit fourth or he's off the team. Sure, when he gets things going, he's definitely a middle of the lineup quality hitter.

Second part, without him, we don't have a good, solid fourth hitter? Very true, we'd have to look far and wide to find somebody worth hitting fourth. Oh wait, see that guy hitting 5th? He's got the 4th highest OPS in the NL so far this season. He's the one driving in the runs that Ramirez has been leaving on the bases.

To make this move seems so incredibly painfull obvious that I can't believe he's not doing it. Add to that, the fact that Ramirez actually approached RRR and told him to move him, yet he still refuses, is beyond any sense of logic.

I don't really have anything that's not obvious to everyone besides RR to add.

Obviously having no insight into how a clubhouse really operates, I wonder if either of the Narrons, Sedar, or Iorg would ever say something to RRR, or really try to get him to change it? If they tell him and he ignores it, makes me more upset with RRR, as guys that he should be trusting, along with everybody else that knows what shape a baseball is, have no input to the direction of the team. If they don't, makes me a little worried that it's only RRR running the show, no input from guys that should be helping out/sharing ideas.

Who knows.... I have a tough time believing it hasn't been discussed as an option though.

Ok, let me ask this though, because I interpret what Ramirez is saying as something completely different.....

When RRR says "He's not happy where he is. He came in and talked to me today. He wants to do something to help contribute to this team winning, and he feels that he isn't doing that right now."....I personally don't see that as Ramirez can to RRR and said move him in the lineup. I see this as Ramirez saying he isn't happy with his stats/how he's hitting at the moment - which he shouldn't be. I don't read this as Ramirez saying move me to a different spot in the batting order.

But yes, I do think the lineup should at least be tinkered with at least for a game or 2. See if something shoots a spark into Ramirez. And get Nyjer outta the 2nd spot.

Yea, RR didn't explicitly say ARam asked to be moved down in the lineup. But RR did basically say that he wouldn't move him down in the order and provided his typical cloudy logic to back it up.

Thats at least what I took away from it.

If he was looking for tips on how to break his slump, wouldn't he go to the hitting coach? Plus, I think Aramis knows himself and knows this slump will last is letting RR know he would hold no ill will if he was moved..

Right, I think it's pretty obvious that Ramirez was basically saying, "Hey idiot, I'm giving you an out. You don't need to bat me cleanup, I'll totally understand, you won't hear any of the customary bitching. When I get interviewed and they ask if I should've been moved down in the order, I won't say, 'you'll have to talk to Skip on that one.'

RR did not take the hint.

The funniest part about this I thought came in last night's broadcast. Rock was saying how Ramirez is working so hard to get it straightened out, coming to the ballpark early and such.

This is particularly amusing to me because I've listened to Rock absolutely lambast Ramirez for a good 6 seasons while he was on the Cubs for not hustling, and generally dogging it at every turn. I'd really like to know what Rock's first thought was when they signed him.

He is just a tool to put a positive spin on things for the organization. Because he doesn't do any research or preparation, in the past he probably thought ARam was lazy, when he was most likely recovering from his shoulder injury.

Rock is an interesting guy, but he's just a poor mans Joe Morgan. Old school thinking on almost everything and shows no interest in research or advanced statistics, so he just tries to skate by on cliches and his own reputation.

So, you guys really believe that a MLB vet of 12-15 years, give or take 13 either way, will go up to his manager (first time that we know of) and says, "I fucking suck, I wanted to come here, I fucking owned you often, I know your team has the WS potential I want..... Move me from the clean up spot to the 13th spot in the order til I figure out how to hit off a tee"

ARAM was saying, Im struggling, move me if you need to....... No more, no less.

curious, who hit the tying HR tonight?

ARAM will be fine, the line up will be fine, the Brewers wil be fine, and win the fucking division

Whats your point? He ran into one.

It's likely to be a close race. So if there is a way to improve the lineup within the organization you don't want us to make that attempt because of your optimism. Sorry, but you are going to have to expect people to disagree with that.

Yes... Thats what most have said... So, I'm not seeing the point of your first paragraph as nobody said anything negative about Aramis.. Yeah, there is frustration, but we know his M.O.

Re: RR- No plans to move Aramis

A-Ram has been much better last two games. Had a hit and walk today, hit the ball hard yesterday and HR'ed, he'll be completely fine. No reason to mess with the lineup.

Hart is a very streaky hitter and hasnt been nearly as good the past 5-6 games as he was earlier.

My lineup would be:

V. RHP

1. N. Aoki CF
2. M. Gamel 1B
3. R. Braun LF
4. A. Ramirez 3B
5. R. Weeks 2B
6. C. Hart RF
7. J. Lucroy C
8. A. Gonzalez SS

I really think Aoki can be a solid contributor to the team. Morgan has been struggling, and Aoki can work the count and get on base. I like Gamel in the #2 spot, or lucroy in the #2 spot. Weeks or Hart could be flip-flopped as well, and so could Gonzalez/Lucroy

I could live with;

1. Aoki CF
2. Lucroy C
3. Braun LF
4. A-Ram 3B
5. Hart RF
6. Weeks 2B
7. Gonzalez SS
8. Lucroy C

I just think Weeks strikes out too much and doesnt get on base enough to be a real leadoff threat. Aoki could be that guy.

Thoughts?

No Gomez platoon in CF with Aoki? He has been off to a surprisingly great start..

A lot of people felt Plush was going to regress this year because his BABIP was 60 points higher than the previous year.. (He was lucky) I don't know if I agree with it because he wasn't getting bloop hits, his LD% was 25%... That tells me he was seeing the ball, and driving it.

Give him some time..
