Following lost prospects from Greinke/Marcum trades

Postby Fan174 on Apr 30th, 2011, 2:46 am

Just thought we'd update how the prospects are doing in the Greinke trade.

Odorizzi is absolutely killing it right now in AA ball.

http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news ... =news_milb

http://www.baseball-reference.com/minor ... oriz001jac

Lawrie's proving himself to be the hitting savant that many knew he was. Now in AAA he's absolutely fucking raking hitting .398/.443/.698 with 5 SB's and 0 CS, he's got 4 HR's 8 DBL's and 1 3 bagger for a 13 X-base hits in 20 games.
He's got 6 errors in 20 games, but he had 5 in his first 4-5 games I believe, so he's looking pretty good.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/minor ... wrie001bre

Lorenzo Cain
http://www.baseball-reference.com/minor ... in--001lor

Cain started off pretty fucking slowly. I don't recall exactly what it was, but he's hitting the ball pretty damn good now.

And finally Jeffress. Goddamn could we use all of these guys right now.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/playe ... je01.shtml

Lets say we keep these guys and still get Greinke/Marcum. Who'd be playing? Obviously Jeffress would be in our pen, Escobar playing short and struggling mightily offensively, but he'd be a stalwart defensively.

Cain would have broken camp as our everyday CF' and Gomez may be gone.

It'd be interesting. Not that I'd go back....but Odorizzi and Lawrie are absolutely killing it. That fucking Royals team is LOADED.

I didnt know Lawrie was part of the Greinke trade. I thought Lawrie ended up in Toronto, not KC.

Lol.... The idea of having those guys AND still having greinke is a moronic thought in and of itself.

Then mentioning lawrie in a thread titled "greinke trade"?..... Priceless.

But yeah. IF we had all the guys we traded for studs PLUS said studs, we would be looking good.

Are you this fucking stupid?

I just asked to speculate which of them would be playing IF we hadn't traded them you fucking moron.

Seriously Medic, you're basically being McClunger here. And to follow it up the dumb shit piles on.

But yea, losing Odorizzi and Lawrie is going to suck. At least Brantly and LaPorta haven't amounted to much (not that I don't wish them well).

Then who would we have traded to get them instead? I pretty sure nobody else would have netted them, as far as prospect packages go. I could see a package with Rickie Weeks working (fast track Lawrie), but that obviously wasn't in the works last offseason.

Unless your'e speculating that we used some sort of voodoo curse to magically make the Royals and Blue Jays release Marcum and Greinke, allow them to clear waivers and land in Milwaukee for absolutely nothing.

Title says Greinke trade, he said Lawrie. I was simply pointing out the perceived mistake.

Melvin has never had an issue developing/drafting position players. I am more concerned, longterm, at the loss of Odorizzi and Jeffress.

Both these guys were great pitchers that Melvin normally doesn't get on his squads.

No shit head, you didn't point out the thread was incorrectly titled. That would have involved you saying something like "the thread is incorrectly titled." Instead you had a McClunger like response:

I'm getting tired of every time someone does the work of looking up a bunch of shit and presenting it to the board people respond with some lame nitpicking.

It's not nitpicking. To mention Lawrie as if he is on the Royals is a pretty big oversight for somebody as "smart" as fan174.

Fan174 wrote:but Odorizzi and Lawrie are absolutely killing it. That fucking Royals team is LOADED

Also, to say if we had all those players AND the players we traded them FOR is ridiculous and isn't really worth the thought. Yeah, some of them are doing well. So what? So is Marcum and I bet Greinke will do well too.

just imagine if we kept CC PLUS we still got Marcum & Greinke while keeping Lawrie, Jeffree, Cain, Odorizzi & Escobar. Then imagine if Sheets never got hurt.

Rotation:
Sabathia
Greinke
Sheets
Gallardo
Marcum

Lineup:
1B - Fielder
2B - Weeks
3B - Lawrie
SS - Escobar
CF - Cain/Brantley
RF - Hart
LF - Braun
C - Lucroy

That would be pretty nice!

So only you and Fan can be condisending fuck sticks when it comes to nit picking? Anyone else does it its being like McClunger? And dont tell me you have never done it, nor has he. Its done all the time.

For the record, by no means am I siding with or defending McClunger here. Just because you two got your panties in a wad because you didnt like my wording, doesnt mean Im trying to start shit. Heavy flow day?

No, I am a condescending fuck stick all the time. In fact I'm doing it right now. But if someone is going to look a bunch of shit up and post it for me to follow it would be nice if the first couple of posts in every thread like that aren't people just taking cheap shots. Besides, theres a right way to do it and there is the McClunger way. I thought it was pretty obvious what Fan was getting at. Yea the title was "misleading." Did you really need someone to spell it out for you or were you just jumping at the opportunity to point out a mistake by Fan?

If someone wants to talk about that good for them. Its the Brewers section so they can talk about whatever they want thats Brewers related. Hell, how about a Brewers 90's all star team. How about an 80's? Not bad topics at all, that could be a lot of fun. I'll take that over 10 posts a day about bacon/eggs or that just say Go Brewers!!!

Hey, Im not the first one to point out something thats "misleading" or "poorly worded". Ive been "misleading" or have "poorly worded" things before only to have gotten attacked over it. And I had to point out what I really meant. Where have you been in my defense?

It was very poorly worded, and I pointed it out in a very Fan like or Shirt like manner. Deal with it.

I love the Marcum trade and would do it 100 times out of 100 times.

Sluggers who cant play a lick of defense are dime a dozen.

Grienke Trade - I love it today because I am desperate for more playoff baseball, but might not love it in 2 years. We gave up A LOT in that trade..
