Time to grade 2009 draft.

"They" say you have to wait 3 years... Here goes..

#9 - BJ Raji - B+ - Last year this was looking like a A+.. Impact players on the DL in a 3-4 are rare. This year he fell off a bit in all areas.. Didn't collapse the pocket as well and didn't hold up against the run as well.. Still, hell of a player and should be a core player on the team for many more years.

#26 - Clay Mathews - A - Another guy with a bit of a down year, but IMO thats mostly due to the constant double and triple teams. Toward the end of the year, Capers was dropping him into coverage more often as it was pointless to slam him against a brick wall. Anyway, TT traded up, I think using the Favre pick, and fleeced Bilichek again. He landed a impact player late in the 1rst who will be a core player for a while. Great move. (Again refers to how he fleeced him when he traded down so the Pats could draft Chad Jackson while TT sat back and plunked #85 with the 56th pick)

#109 - TJ Lang - A- - When you pull a starter out of the 4th round, it has to be an A, right? Especially when that starter played well above the guy who left for a big contract in free agency.. Lang looked shaky at times when he was playing T his first two years, but has found a long term home at G.

#145 - Quinn Johnson - B - Johnson never lived up to his potential with the Packers, but he did get significant playing time for a 5th rounder for 2 years so there was value in the pick.. I think his undoing in GB was the fact that MM/TT made a effort to get better on special teams and that was a weakness for Quinn.

#162 - Jamon Meredith - F - Never made a case to even have a role as a backup.. Was on the practice squad for a year and since has bounced around the league a bit being waved several times.

# 182 - Jarius Wynn - B - He isn't a stud or legit starter, but he is a 6th rounder who remains on the roster and saw significant playing time this year.

#187 - Brandon Underwood - C - They guy had talent but also had injury problems and a hooker fetish. 2 years on the roster for a late 6th rounder, can't complain.

#218 - Brad Jones - A+ - 7th rounder who has had major contributions over the past 3 years.. Maybe it's because our lack of a real option at LOLB, but it has proven to be a valuable selection.

Can't argue too much.

I'd say BJ Raji is still a A+. You ask a guy to play 90pct of the snaps on the DL and he's going to wear down. Had he not been able to play that many, then what?

I never really saw the talent in Underwood, but I didn't really see much of him on the field either.

And an F for Meridith, he was plucked off our practice squad and started in Buffalo. In the 6th round...I think he might be more a C.

brad jones should really get a D. he isn't all that good at rushing the passer, and only plays because walden blows, and zombo is always hurt. and its not like either of those guys is really all that good. really need to upgrade that spot.
You look like Babe Ruth's gay brother, Gabe Ruth.

I'd give Brad Jones at least a B, if we're judging guys relative to where they are drafted.

No he isn't an impact player and they do need to upgrade that position, but he's ahead of the curve in production if you're comparing him to an average 7th round pick.

Exactly.. We are not judging the player as much as we are the draft pick.. So, a 7th rounder who contributed as much as Jones has... GREAT pick.

I loved this draft from the start. Probably more of the fact that we had two 1st rounders.
