Shawn Slocum

I can't believe this turd is still the teams coach. With our depth, there is no reason we dont have great teams play.
Accomplishments:
2010 - NFL Pick'em regular season & playoff champion
2011 - BC Dynasty Baseball league regular season champion

I almost always would play the devils advocate here as I don't like when a coach just automatically gets blamed because a aspect of the team isn't good, but for fucks sake, we fired the guy before him, Stock, right? Anyway, we fired him, or forced him into retirement as we were focusing on special teams, and then we go out and sign his subordinate? Why?

And we've been shit forever. We SHOULD be better this year, but fucking Christ, this isn't a "coach", this is a fucking coordinator in my mind. The game's about 40 pct offense, 40 Defense and 20 ST's(not equal 3 parts, don't care what cliches people use).

And you go with a unproven coach. Why?

Same question I had with James Camden, but the OL looks pretty fucking good these days.

But coaches in order of importance.

HC
DC
OC-these two are interchangeable, but if you've got a HC who's an offensive guy, DC is 2nd, and vice versa.
ST's
OL
QB-Though on this team, having Tom Clement, the "Dave Duncan" of QB's, he is probably a bit higher.

Point is? Go with someone better than Shawn-fucking-Slocumb as your ST's coach.

Just how bad are our teams?

"Green Bay's special teams have ranked 31st or 32nd in four of the past six years."

I'm guessing either Shawn Slocum or Mike Stock are responsible for the majority of those 31st and 32nd rankinds.

The thing that pisses me off is that our team is so deep there is no reason we should be bad on special teams. We have the talent thanks to a constant influx of your guys on the cusp of being starters. Every year when we trim rosters teams salivate over who won't make it on our roster.

So how can we not at the very least be average? If the talent is there it falls squarely on the coaches.

I have been hard on Slocum so I am going to give credit where it is due today -- Slocum had his shit straight today and his units looked solid all-around. I will judge them on the entire season, not just one game, but good start.

ONE GAME is WAAAAY too little to make any definitive judgement, but Jesus Christ did our ST's look so much better tonight than they had. THAT was impressive as shit.

GRATE coverage units. GREAT returns, GREAT kicking, GREAT punting.

I don't think that's overstating it either.

I think our ST's won us this game. And for Crosby to kick a 56 yarder in the wind in Philly? Now it wasn't gusting winds, but it was STILL windy.

I could NOT be more excited about our ST's. And just in general, our D was playing great until Vick came in. He played great and we were not prepared.

So between what I thought were our issues, our D and ST's, I'd give our ST's an A and our D a C+. Our CB's also played so much better than I thought. Vick just scrambled and really bought some extra time so our CB's were having to cover for 4-5-6 seconds and NOBODY, not Revis, not Wood, not Asomugha can cover that long, but for Shields to cover Jackson as much as he did...impressive.

I give our D a B grade. Having not prepaied for Vick, they did as well as you can hope for.

Vick is one talented mother fucker who does not get enough credit for being a winning QB. Yes, he is a piee of shit, but he is also a playoff winning QB.

Agreed.

He's a below average passer, but...fuck, it's like throwing LT back there and giving him Cutler's arm without a lot of accuracy. It gives you another athlete on offense.

As for him being a piece of shit.....I want to forgive the guy(not that he gives a FUCK if I forgive him or not), but I gotta be honest, I'm a HUGE fucking animal lover(not quite a Hoosier type animal lover as my pants stay on when mine are around, but in the "who's a good boy" kinda way...) and when I look at my dogs and I think...that fucker did some AWFUL-AWFUL shit to dogs it's hard.

Of course he's now done more than anyone to get rid of dog fighting so......still...he's a piece of shit.

Oh, anyway, grade on the ST's?

You giving them an A?

I go
Offense solid C.
For most teams it'd be a B, but we're not most teams. Kuhn DID actually convince me the Packers weren't on crack thinking he could be a 3rd RB.

Defense B-
I agree, no Vick, the D just fucking STOMPS them. Still not REAL confident in that D, and especially with our CB's.....I don't know. The Saints seem like they could really fuck us up on the turf, but we'll get there when we get there.

ST's-A

I'd give them an A+, but that doesn't really exist as there is no A+ in grades so....just an A.

We may as well pick some random lucky fan from the stands next week to be our special teams coach. No reason to expect any drop in production.

It's not even like he's got an established track record. Dude was fucking linebackers coach for Ole Miss a couple years ago. All of the sudden he's qualified to run ST for an NFL team?
