Pathetic

Postby horsechukk314 on Jan 16th, 2012, 12:08 pm

Yesterday's game was pathetic. Besides the dropped passes, I think I have some serious issues with the coaching.

Surprise onside kick? WHAT? You won 15 fucking games. Act like it.

I hated that onside kick call, but I think the loss is a little too fresh in my mind to objectively evaluate the coaching right now.

Seems to me like they were acting like a team with a top ranked offense and 32nd ranked defense.

I had no problem with it -- it didn't come back to hurt us and there were a lot more things that I'm a lot more upset about in yesterdays game than a failed onside kick.

If I'm going to get upset about coaching then it's going to be Capers. He's really soured on me. Going from the 5th ranked defense to the 32nd is absolutely inexcusable. There are too many good players on defense to be that bad. Watching helplessly as he threw 3 man rushes at the Giants last night on 3rd and long as Eli could have very well sit back in the pocket untouched for a full minute before finding someone open was a disgusting sight.

No one can cover in the secondary for that long. Our only hope was to make Eli uncomfortable and we never did it, never came close.

The offense -- for the most part, that was execution, not coaching. Rodgers sucked, the receivers sucked, two RB's coughed it up for turnovers, the only group that did their job for the most part was the O-line and their performance was wasted.

You could argue that the layoff hurt Rodgers and some of the others, and I'm sure that's something they'll consider in the future, but that's really no excuse, they're professionals and one of the top offenses in the NFL and a 3 week layoff is no excuse for them to come back and look that bad and embarrass themselves in front of their home crowd.

Didn't mind the playcall as until that point, our defense had looked pathetic out there. Worth the chance of a recovery, since we had little hope of stopping them whether they started at their 20 or the 50. And as adam said, didn't end up costing us anything besides possible field position, and it certainly wasn't the reason we lost.

I still dont get why you repeatedly only rush 3 guys, giving Eli all the time in the world. We did a great job stopping the run, and holding them to get to 3rd and long. Then for whatever reason, no pressure. That was mind boggling. The defense needs some work, for sure, going forward. But there is no reason they cant have a big turnaround going into next season.

Defense really reminded me of a couple years ago in the playoffs against the Cardinals. Capers sat back all day with no pressure and Warner picked them apart.

Exactly. You know you had a very pourous defense, you have to do something. Look at New England and what they did to Tebow. They didnt give him a chance to breath, and destroyed him. Eli is clearly a better QB, but even Tebow would have picked us apart yesterday.

Deep down I thought the Giants were a little overhyped and we were going to come out pissed off and fired up with a little chip on our shoulder and at home and actually win fairly easily.

So this one stings a little extra.

Just remember all this and how it feels at this time next year when we're heading back to the Super Bowl. The reason winning the Super Bowl feels so amazing to real fans like all of us is because of how shitty this feels.

I was called a "fair weather fan" yesterday for being pissed off about the Packers losing. Keep in mind, I did not say anything like "fuck the Packers" really anything negative....just that I thought it was an embarassing performance.

I thought the defense played well until the last few minutes, relatively speaking, until the game was out of hand in the last few mins of the 4th. It was 20-13 midway through the 4th...

That being said, the 3 man rush was painful to watch.. One play in particular stands out.. Clay was triple teamed as they left a back in and Raji was doubled with the C and LG... I think it was Wynn at RE and Eli literally held the ball for about 10 seconds in a clean pocket.. That was pathetic.

The goat on D, besides the 3 man rush, was Peprah.. He got abused all day and made some horrific plays. The first TD, he made no attempt to wrap up and it led to a 60 yard, or so, TD.. The worst was when he took a piss poor angle on Bradshaw in the closing seconds of the 2nd half and let him get OB.. Only to follow it up with a pathetic attempt at knocking down the TD pass.

Peprah was awful. Saw that attempted big hit on Nicks turned TD, and was pissed. Wrap you stupid fucker. Isnt that something you learn in Pop Fucking Warner? Wrap and tackle.

And that hail mary was a kick to the junk too. 13-10 half vs 20-10 with the ball, was a big thing I think.

Two double teams, and a triple team? That makes it a 3 receiver route at first. With 8 in coverage. Delayed blitz there does wonders. How the fuck does a receiver get open when they are double/triple teamed themselves???

I really thought Capers was smarter than he showed on Sunday.

Our 3 man rush is useless. We may as well drop 9 into coverage and run a 2 man QB spy.

Exactly.. 10 seconds to throw the ball if he wanted and I don't think thats exaggerating.. You could put IP back there and he would complete a few.
