OT: Championship weekend

Postby adambr2 on Jan 22nd, 2012, 6:17 pm

Billy Cundiff is going to have a long plane ride back to Baltimore. Everything your entire team has worked for all year and sometimes it just comes down to a skinny white guy's foot. Not even close.

Yup. Of course, can't forget about former Badger Lee Evans not holding onto the TD pass that would have put them ahead.

That was a great defensive play though. Evans had it and it just got batted out.

I don't remember Evans being so huge. Should have held onto that though.

Watching the 49ers defense blitz Eli on almost every 3rd down and see him desperately get out of the pocket and throw it away and send the punt team out on the field is really making me pissed off at Capers.

Well it's not just the 3rd down blitzing from the Niners as even when they don't they get so much more pressure from their front 4 than we could have ever dreamed to this year.

Athletic TE's are dominating in the playoffs which makes me understand more why we want Finley back, but yeah, Finley this year isn't in the same league as some of these other top TE's.

Fuck, Giants/Patriots Super Bowl. Commence two weeks of ESPN talking non-stop about the Super Bowl a couple years ago with the Giants upsetting the undefeated Patriots.

Another Patriots/Giants Super Bowl, both times we had a chance to be there but got knocked out by the Giants at Lambeau. Ugh.

I was rooting hard for the Giants last time, won't be doing the same this time.

This might be the first Super Bowl I don't watch that in as long as I can remember. I mean shit...it requires me to get up early as fuck and I would watch it alone.....

In basically 4 out of the last 5 years, the NFC rep in the Super Bowl wasn't at all the team that looked best during the regular season, just the team that got hot at the right time and rode it all the way. Its quite a statement, really, for the value of momentum and peaking at the right time. Makes me question how much a first round bye is really worth.

So who is the bigger goat of championship weekend: Billy Cundiff or Kyle Williams? Cundiff misses the game winning field goal, Williams fumbles the punt that basically hands the game to the Giants (in addition to a stupid muffed punt earlier in the game to give them a TD).

Cundiff would only have tied the game. But still, 32 yds? I coulda made that! And Kyle Williams gave the Gnats 10 points yesterday. San Fran fucked up Eli. Amazing what happens when you pressure him......

More than anything now I do believe that even the modern game is won in the trenches. Protect Rodgers against a pass rush and our offense is golden.

Get pressure on the QB and you can slow down any offense. If you can't, any journeyman QB can tear you apart.

Hopefully improving our pass rush will be the offseason focus.

Yeah, I think of Evans more of a DD type player. He looked like that Torey Smith out of Maryland, and they actually confused the two.

It was just a great defensive play IMO.
