franchise tag

Postby RetardRon on Jan 1st, 2012, 5:41 pm

Forget tagging Finely, you can't let Flynn walk without getting a 1rst rounder. So who would be potential trading partners?

Seahawks
REDSKINS
Jets
MIAMI
Browns
DENVER
Kansas City

Luck goes to the Colts and I think Barkley said he was going back to USC, right?

Im telling you. Flynn for Marshawn Lynch!!!! :)

But I agree, you have to franchise him, and get something big back in return.

Barkley is staying at USC

Why would we want Marshawn Lynch? I'd much rather have a first round pick.

Is there any risk to this? We have to have a willing trade partner who is willing to part with a high pick and give Flynn a long-term contract.

We would absolutely have to trade him, otherwise we'd be on the hook for about $14.4M, an insane amount for a backup QB. In that situation we lose a lot of trade leverage unless we can get a couple teams to bid on him.

Barkley is going back to USC, but Luck, Griffin III, and Landry Jones are all QBs projected to go early in the first round, so that would take 2-3 teams out of consideration for trade partners.

Colts will take Luck.

The Vikings, Bucs, and Rams are already invested in young QB's.

The Redskins, Dolphins, Chiefs, and maybe even Jaguars could be very interested.

Will be interesting to see if the Jags have already given up on Gabbert and are looking for a replacement, not sure they'd be willing to give up a first rounder for a QB a year after doing the same thing.

Could see Seattle being in the mix as well, not sure anybody believes Tavaris Jackson can take you far into the playoffs.

I dont know if the Jags would be that interested. Gabbert didnt have anything around him. You cant rule out the Seachickens either, T-Jax sucks balls.

Also, can't for sure eliminate Broncos as a possibility, no secret Elway would like a more traditional QB.

Maybe we can convince the Cardinals that Kolb and Skelton arent the answers, and give us Larry Fitzgerald. Damn, is he making some plays this game.

Just not really sure what the market will be for Flynn and we obviously can't end up paying him a top 5 QB salary.

The Patriots did this with Cassel, so its definitely not unprecedented, but Cassel had an entire year of performance to be evaluated on, Flynn has only 2 games -- as good as he was in both games.

It would have been Lynch for 1.5 years instead of our 3rd, Alex Green.

Yeah, I would still take that deal.

I think Seatle would be the most likely.. There needs to be trust between the GM's in a sign and trade... TT and Schnieder have history.

T-Jax only signed a 2 year deal so it's not like they have heavy money invested in him. Flynn could get them to the playoffs.

Off topic, I have someone we work with, Jersey Boy, loves the Gnats!

We were talking shit on Christmas, and I said the Pack would bend them over

He bent over and laughed. Tard in the group said, "I have the front!!!!"

I said, Brooklyn Bridge?????

Yeah, funnier when it happened.
