MLB and NFL keeper leagues?

Postby darklotus66 on Feb 7th, 2010, 1:32 pm

I've been in two leagues, same group (football: '02-'08 & baseball: '03-now). The way we did it, the rosters just carried out to next year. Just recently, we got SOME sort of "free agency", where if you short of a player before rosters unlock or something, you get a player assigned to you.

So, anybody want to start one? Doesn't have to be the same rules, but no matter how shitty I've done I've enjoyed trying to build my team up and keeping the same players.

For the hell of it, I'll post before and after of my teams.

MLB sounds fun, but I dont know if it would work with this broad (turnover), how are new people let in?

New people can be brought in to replace those who quit, but otherwise I'm not sure entirely how it was ran. For two years the football league went from 14 teams to 12, then at 14.

Baseball league started with 20 teams, currently has 14.

As you can, a drafted terribly in both year 1. In the FB league, I drafted #1 and finished 2nd to the last place!

Do it stache,,,

2011 - BC Dynasty Baseball league regular season champion

Suppose I'd be interested in trying a keeper league out, I've only done the simple, one season at a time leagues. A keeper league has always interested me.

Now for a draft, I'm thinking that it's apparently impossible to get more than 75% of members show up. I've been thinking maybe do an "offline" draft, at least for the football since it's so far away. This way, everyone gets to get their players for sure and nobody gets pissed/get lucky about their teams.

Thats a good idea. Plus the picks would be made on this board, making it more intriguing.... We can even do that for baseball, honestly. Now all we need is 10-12 people to join up. We already have 5 for sure.

Yeah,.... The online draft is tough.. If life happens,,, your fucked for the season

I like the idea of having it here.. but it would be tough keeping it organized... Whats the time limit between picks.. 1 day? 1 hour? It could take forever.. Plus, who is going to keep track of who is still availble in the later rounds.

Hmmmm

I guess we could start one for those who want to.

I will probably stick for the easy "draft annually" leagues though.

i can keep track. I ve ran an offline draft on a message board before. We can do 10 hours for each pick. If you dont think you're going to be online when you time is up, send me a draft board. The penalty for not picking in the time given is you get the 5th best player available per yahoo rankings.

Bump!

The details:

Draft would be held on the forum. I can provide a link of all available players. When it is your pick, check the link and post in the to be created draft thread who you are selecting. Once a player is selected, I can add them to your roster manually. That way the player gets taken out of the "who's available" list and you can get a good gauge on how your roster is shaping up.

I need at least 10 people.

It will be a keeper league, so draft wisely.

I would be interested but I don't really want to be in a keeper league. I like drafting a new team each year. Drafting for me is half the fun.
People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.
