Jon Morosi @jonmorosi
I received confirmation: Prince Fielder to the #Tigers. Can't believe I typed those words. This is stunning.

Jon Morosi @jonmorosi
This will be fascinating. Neither Cabrera nor Fielder will want to DH all the time. Can Miggy play 3B or LF? #Tigers

Holy Shit.

Detroit was already good.

Miggy is moving positions. Prince will be the 1B according to Heyman. Interesting.

its the only logical fit, the AL. if they split time at first and DH it might extend their careers and keep them in shape.

I think the star players in the NL will eventually leave because of the fact that they can get long-term deals with the AL teams. Having an opportunity to be a DH at the end of the contract is a huge factor.

That being said.....

Albert Pujols: 10 years, $250M to the Angels
Prince Fielder: 9 years, $214M to the Tigers

Both being out of the NL Central: Priceless!

On the clock.....Joey Votto.

with V. Mart going down they became desperate and with Martinez age 35 and injured and Fielder's at his young age this was a no brainer for them fielder was available they have the money dont have to give up any players

Not going to be one IP. I thought for a minute he stayed in the division so initially I was pissed til I checked myself that Detroit is in the AL Central not the NL so if they wanna screw themselves for 9 years LET THEM! Pujols and Fielder out of the central! Color me excited and Joey Votto can pack his bags from that shithole called Cincinnati and jump on anytime now!

Um you had to check to see if Detroit was in the nl?

That's crazy money. But Miggy and prince? potent combo there in Detroit.

Lineup will be scary good, but if they plan on moving Miggy to 3B, that defense is going to be atrocious.

I dont think they want to go to the AL, I dont think they will have a choice. Both players would have gotten traded by year 6 if they stayed in the NL. It seems like most of these guys want to stay in the NL so they can be real baseball players by playing a position on the field and its almost a knock on their skills to be a dh.

Albert would have stayed in st louis if they didnt try to play the home field cheap card. the way they handled negotiations is why he left.

Why Votto? He's going to be 31 when he plays his first game for his new team. I am no more certain about signing Votto to a 7 year deal then I was Prince given their ages at time of the new contract.

He's buil better body type-wise for one thing and he hits for a much better average, I personally think Detroit signing him will kill them because Prince is Mo Vaughn 2.0 IMO and how'd that work for the Mets when they gave him all that money. If we had signed him I'd have been happy for a short time but regretted it later and would've felt the same way I do about Soriano now.

Prediction, Castellanos will be joining the Cubs soon. With Cabrera going to third he's blocked. The Tigers are obviously all in so why not add a tor starter. Castellanos/Smyly/Oliver for Garza/Russel, make it happen.
