Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry WoodThank you to whomever moved this to a separate thread. I was being lazy and posting all of this to the offseason thread.
Lots of interesting stuff there about Garza though. 2011 BC.com Rookie of the Year

Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry Wood
No problem good sir.
Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry WoodWoooooooooo! Although I never believed for a second that they would let him get away. He wants to be there, they want him there, and all he wants is market value. Come on.
Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry WoodCan't find the video but people will be now asking "is our pitching staff made out of......(looks around) WOOD!

Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry Wood
Meant 65, typo my bad I realized it after I posted it.
Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry Wood
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Interstate_65_map.png Another fail. 65 goes to Indiana. Closer to Chicago but not quite.
Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry WoodYou could go play on 90 or 55. You'd definitely get killed haha.
Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry Wood
Market value by the yankees, redsox or phillies was probably what madsen was paid last year around 5 to the 8.5 just signed for. wood went from 10 million to 1.5 last season, you would think he is due to recoup some of what he left last year. You can pay miami 15 million so z doesnt pitch here, you should be fair to kerry. Bottom line is he is past the boat marshall was in and really doesnt belong in these current plans. They sure dont seem to have a place for feel good for the fans signings, especially when he would probably be a piece to move at the deadline that will cause more of an uproar. Its gonna cost another player lost to waivers when the team will have a surplus of starters that are gonna be relievers. Bottom line, Carpenter and Wood are basically the same, Theos plan should be to go with the youth.

Seriously. I take 90 to work every day, and it's like the Audobon. 2011 BC.com Rookie of the Year

Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry Wood
Good way to start of a morning by reading these two quotes. Anyone, who knows Chicago, knows that those two expressways will git-r-done!
Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry Woodcontract done, announced at cubs convention - 1yr 3mil
Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry WoodReally? So all that drama was over $1.5M? I mean I get that he took a way below market deal last season, but the front office was going to let him walk away over a paltry (by baseball standards) amount? Had he signed elsewhere and it came out that this was the amount that Theo & Co. were balking at I would've lost a little faith in them. I get they don't have the ties to him the previous regime did but you have to understand his connection to the franchise, even as an outsider. Glad it's over with though and it all worked out.
Re: Cubs near contract w/Kerry WoodMaybe they just tried to make it seem more dramatic than needed in order to keep certain fans tethered in. I get it. This next season (or three) could be tough for the casual fan to really understand what the new regime is trying to do in the long run.
Anyway...it's done. Good to see Kerry back. "The dead touch the living dreaming, who in turn touch the living waking" -Heraclitus
