Not that it really makes a difference in the current team nor the future, but it's regarding the Cubs...so here goes:
Cubs To Sign Alfredo Amezaga By Ben Nicholson-Smith [January 13, 2012 at 3:32pm CST]
The Cubs have agreed to sign Alfredo Amezaga to a minor league deal, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets. The Sparta Group represents the 33-year-old utility player.
Amezaga appeared in 40 games with the Rockies and Marlins in 2011, playing short, second, third and both outfield corners. He posted a .182/.247/.195 line in 87 plate appearances, but owns a career line of .247/.307/.333 in nine seasons with the Angels, Rockies, Pirates and Marlins. His most productive years came from 2006-08, when he posted a .675 OPS as a super utility player in Florida.

If we're building a foundation we are definitely going to goodwill to buy the parts.

True...I think I posted more out of boredom than anything. This time of year always makes me antsy to keep cubs conversations going.

Haha I hear ya. I've never been this excited about a Cubs team, one that probably wont be very good, in a long time.

I know...isn't it odd? I know that this team is going to pretty crappy but it is finally a real honest-to-goodness, fresh start. I'm excited to get in a young, good core, and to watch them grow and improve together.
Cubs may win only 65 games this next season, but I'm going to try to watch every single one of them.
Exciting times!

I think its because we finally have a clear cut idea what the team is going to be and we have no expectations. The last few years the team could have gone the other way. Either bad enough to be a joke or good enough to contend. Its was really confusing to figure out what the identity of the team was or which way they were headed. I blame Hendry for that. He always thought by adding a piece or two that we can still contend when in reality we sucked. Its also got to do with the feeling that this is definitely going to be for the better long-term and we finally have faith in the front office.

I'm surprisingly excited about this year's team too. I can see myself watching more games this year than I did last year because of all the new faces.
