I expect Cutler to be better next year. Hopefully, Martz will utilize Cutler and use his strengths. Cutler finished the year strong with 8 TD's and 1 INT.

Cutler's stats will no doubt be better as Martz's system is made for a pass happy offense. I just hope it leads to more wins.

One of the big concerns I've heard about Martz and this position is that Cutler really liked throwing to Olsen this past year, but Martz tends to ignore the tight end. Not sure how valid it is, but one of the biggest concerns I've read.

Ive read that as well. Im hoping they just split Olsen out wide and use Clark as the primary blocker.

Its my understanding they are going to trade Olsen. For Martz system to work and Cutler to be effective in it, they really need to upgrade their WR corps. I think Forte will have a much improved year though.

a pass happy offense will lead to more picks for jay cutler the turnover machine.
You look like Babe Ruth's gay brother, Gabe Ruth.

Yea new developments. They are definitely trying to move him. Trying to get a OL or 2nd round pick for him. Not sure either will be fetched for him, but well see. I see him gone by draft day.

A third rounder seems a lot more realistic, or maybe second if they packaged in a 4th rounder (if they even had one). Either one could fetch them a WR, but that player would still probably be a year or two away from making a huge impact. I know I always say high-sight is 20-20, but when that Cutler trade went down and all the Bears fans were running around Chicago proclaiming this to be the year I just laughed at what they had given up when they had no surrounding cast and the same shitty system in place. Of course I didn't think Cutler would be as bad as he was, but man did they handcuff themselves...and all the while Orton is a pretty good player in his own right. Now at least they changed up the system, but they are just as far away from having the necessary personal and they have gotten rid of any pieces to get that personal.

I agree with everything you said except for your assessment of Orton. He is not a pretty good player. Hes ok. He can manage a game, sure, but he cant win you a game. Denver started 6-0 because of their defense, not Orton. Orton was managing the game by not throwing any INT's, which is great. But when that defense went downhill so did Orton's play and so did the Broncos record.
Plus, Orton cant make all the throws. His deep ball accuracy is probably the worst in the league. There was probably 10-15 times he overshot Hester on the go route 2 seasons ago. He cant throw the out route without getting picked, doesn't have the arm strength. He has trouble trhwoing the slant route as well. He does throw a very good fade route, though. I will give him credit there.
He is what he is, a game manager. You cant win a super bowl with that kind of QB unless you have a Baltimore Raven type defense. When they won it all with Dilfer.
I for one am thrilled the Bears have Cutler, but he does need help as you stated. Hopefully, Angelo works his late round magic again and picks up a WR in the draft. He cant pick worth a damn in the 1st 2 rounds, but he is probably one of the best in rounds 3-7.

I agree that they didn't have a great supporting cast(obviously), but I still think it was a great trade. Jay Cutler's one of the most talented Quarterbacks in the NFL. The Bears also have some good young WR's. Knox and Bennett both look good, Hester's who he is, a guy who'll make some big plays, and Martz DOES use his Tight End. I think trading Olsen was a stupid idea. Anyway, this always happens. A team has high expectations in one year. They struggle that year so the NEXT year everyone looks at them and says, "well, they sucked last year, they'll suck this year". And yet every year you see a couple of those teams bounce back and play great. The Bears have added 1-One of the best offensive minds in the NFL. 2-TWO DPOY caliber players. Urlacher and Peppers. 3-Harris will be back healthy. 4-Their WR's will have another year in the system. The Bears are a team that should scare some people next year. If they ended up winning the division with a 11-5 record and the Packers and Vikes were both at 10-6, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. I still think the Packers are a better team, but we'll see. Certainly plausible.
