Ha. Not a shakeup. He just took Betancourt and and Hart out of the lineup and moved Gomez down about a month too late.

That's what the "of sorts" was. Still more than I feared he was going to do. Why he's so insistent on not at least trying Lucroy in the 2 hole I have no clue.

Some quotes from Sveum:

"I don't know if I've seen a streak of six or seven days of no runs, no hits," said Sveum. "We have a lot of proven hitters with good careers swinging the bats. To have it all come together at one time, even our big boys -- Braun and Prince -- had that unbelievable first month (before slumping).

"Hitting is contagious. Sometimes all it takes is a couple of bloopers here, a couple of bloopers there. Not to give pitchers too much credit but every pitcher we've faced so far has come into our game with his last two or three starts being phenomenal and they've kept it up.

"This is as good a pitching as anybody has seen in the big leagues in 30 years. You're seeing that on the scoreboard on a nightly basis. There's some really good starting pitching out there. But we have some really good hitters. There have to be some adjustments made to sustain innings. We probably could have walked quite a bit on this road trip and we're swinging out of the (strike) zone on 3-1 and 3-2 pitches. We're not sustaining that inning. They're trying to hit their way on when they get that 3-ball count. That's part of slumps."

"It's really not mechanical," said Sveum. "They've faced good pitching and little stresses have become involved now. These things happen, maybe not this drastic. You're going to go through periods when you score runs but we're not sustaining any innings by getting hits or walks."

On Gomez:

"The last home stand he had some very quality at-bats. He only struck out about two or three times. he had about 23 quality at-bats; was seeing lots of pitches. But he wasn't getting any results. He was this far away from really doing some damage.

"He's working his butt off. I give him a lot of credit. He's taking great batting practice, concentrating on the middle of the field. But, obviously, this is a production-driven business. You've got to find a way to get it done in game situations. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink."

A lot of outfielders would have let that thing pop out of the glove.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or did the Brewers actually score a run?

That's what I mean. He looks GREAT so far today.

It wouldn't surprise me if he has 2 or 3 really dominating outings in a row.

He has great stuff.
