DH 4/17 G2: Estrada goes for win #2

Postby adambr2 on Apr 17th, 2011, 2:53 pm

Livan Hernandez is STILL pitching?

Okay, this has been a shitty series so far. Let's salvage one with Estrada going and at least stay over .500. Cardinals getting hot and I'd hate to see us get swept in Washington with Philly up next.

Livan actually had a really solid season last year. 3.66 ERA, 3.95 FIP, a 3. War player.

That's an impressive resurgence considering what he was doing a few years before that.

Quick 1-2-3 inning. Get well soon Hart and Morgan. This lineup looks brutal with Almonte and Gomez.

At least Almonte is a defensive stud.

This guy's stance is like a retarded version of JJ Hardy's.

Morgan or Hart get to that ball pretty easily. If Almonte breaks on it immediately without hesitating, he makes a fairly routine catch on the run.

The fact that we're analyzing Almonte's defense in right field is really depressing in and of itself.

There's 2 poor defensive plays in the 1st already. There's going to be a lot of bad defense from us this year that doesn't show up on the box score in the form of errors.

Nice work Marco. Especially once Marco gets back, we might actually have ourselves some great pitching depth.

I hate when people say that pitches 5 inches off the plate are "two close to take with two strikes." That's a mistake by the fucking umpire, not the hitter.

April 17, 2010, exactly a year ago today, Livan's line against the Crew:

Complete game shutout, 4 hits, 2 walks, 3 K.

D'oh.

That pitch wasn't even close to 5 inches off the plate. That was as borderline as they come, Casey should have been swinging there.

These are the same hitters that were blasting off against Gallardo. I'm interested to see what happens the second time through.

Or in Harry Jairston's case, the first time through.

They showed the K-zone on the Nationals broadcast, it was more than a ball length outside.

I didn't know they were using softball then, because a baseball is clearly not 5 inches.

More good contact, from Braun this time, just in a bad spot. Game just has a feeling of one we weren't meant to win.
