Thrashers Jetting north to Winnipeg

Postby medicalgary33 on Jun 1st, 2011, 7:02 am

Will he NHL thrive in Manitoba? Feel for the Atlanta fans, and while the threat of the Coyotes bolting for the border seems over for the year, one can only hope that stability is restored in the desert.
The Coyotes can thrive like the Cardinals and Dbacks, based on the fact of some success, and a fuck ton of other fans here. You goto a game here, and 30-50% of the fans are the opposing teams fans. And those fans would support a team here with stability (NFL and MLB are stable as shit for now, KC cant lose a team, neither can TB, who can?)
Anyways, good luck to the Jets? and here is to stability in the desert. (Scottsdale, you screwed the pooch on the arena, but there is hope)

Why are we giving Canada more teams? They have too many already. Contraction would have been nice here. Phoenix probably would have been the logical choice in the west to keep things even.

Shame on the nhl. Winnipeg? Come on.

I think he meant contraction of the Thrashers and Coyotes.

The thing is the Coyotes have had some success lately. All they need is stability here. People dont want season tickets if there is a threat the team is gonna leave. Plus Phoenix has the biggest group of bandwagoners I have ever seen. So with success will bring the fans.

Winnipeg....J-E-T-S. JETS, JETS, JETS

The new NHL team in Winnipeg will go with what the city's original team was named -- the Winnipeg Jets, sources told ESPN.com Friday.

The team is expected to announce it Friday night at the NHL draft in Minneapolis.

Ever since the announcement that the Atlanta Thrashers were moving to Winnipeg, fans have debated what to call the team. The overwhelming choice has been Jets -- what the team was called before it moved to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Coyotes. Other options included Winnipeg Falcons, Manitoba Falcons, and Manitoba Moose, which was the name of the AHL team there.
