JoePa done at Penn St.

Postby sedgy145 on Nov 8th, 2011, 12:38 pm

The New York Times reports: Penn State is planning to remove Joe Paterno as football coach, possibly within days or weeks but no later than the end of the season, according to two people briefed on conversations among top university officials.

Although the board of trustees has not yet determined when Paterno will exit, it's clear the 84-year-old icon will not return to coach a 47th season.

Just amazing how in a matter of a couple days, the legend of Joe Paterno at Penn St. has become what it is right now. This whole thing with Jerry Sandusky is disgusting and amazing they put a football program before children. What's Joe Paterno going to do now?

Hopefully he ends up in a nursing home where the nurses neglect him by letting him sit in his own shit and piss for weeks. Meanwhile, his heirs spend his fortune on hookers and blow while never visiting or calling.

Anyone who doesn't alert the police in that situation deserves nothing less.

I completely agree. It's disgusting. Hopefully the NCAA doesn't try to get involved. This is a legal matter. Let Paterno be taken out of his position and Penn St. will suffer enough simply from recruits decommitting to Penn St. and making it tougher for recruits moving forward.

What High School kid is going to ever commit to the University known for allowing coaches to molest boys in the football locker room showers?

They are done.. Might as well just end the program.

I read the grand jury report.. Two eye witnesses seeing this guy having sex with kids (once a blowing a kid and once anal) on two separate occasions 10 years ago.. What the fuck is wrong with people?!?! You go to your boss, fine. If the cops are not interviewing you within 24 hours, you call them and ask them why the fuck not.

I read it, too, just because I'm curious about all truth. And this was certainly a disturbing truth that took place in the same location that football activities occur. I was talking with someone earlier about this and they said they don't think Paterno should lose his job because he did his due diligence and went to higher authority. Granted, he did go to proper "higher-up's," but it's his program and I tried explaining that a head football coach is more responsible (in an ethical and moral view) for anything that happens under his leadership. They disagreed and think it's the university adminstration that should solely be reprimanded. What do you think?

If he knew what was going on, went to the right higher ups, who then didnt do anything, it IS on Paterno to go over their heads. Yes, for most things there is a proper chain of command to take care of things, but in extreme cases (And I think this might be an extreme case) going over the heads of your superiors is perfectly acceptable. Hell, rather than talk to your superiors, be the one that makes that phone call to the police.

Enjoy this season Penn St, its about to get downright ugly in Happy Valley.

I think he knew there was "funny" shit going on 1999 when he told the Perv he wasn't going to be head coach and he decided to retire. Strange, after all that sucess, he is no longer the golden boy in Happy Valley?

Coincidently, in 1998 the first signs of problems appeared when Sandusky was being questioned by police about showering with boys.

THEN,... AFTER this came up, comes a report from one of his assistants that he is seen having anal sex in the showers.. (SAME FUCKING PLACE) and all JoPa does is tell the Athletic Director? Fine start there, but if you see them covering it up and do nothing, your just as fucking guilty as the guy molesting the children in my book.

Here is a timeline that breaks it all down... That piece of shit, JoPa, knew what was going on and tried to turn a blind eye.

http://www.npr.org/2011/11/08/142111804 ... d-timeline

The sickest thing about this story is that it went on for TEN YEARS!!! I'm guessing 100's of children were violated under his watch and it could have been stopped in 2002 by JoPa. I read something that Sandusky was seen on Campus with a boy as recently as a month ago.. Holly fuck.

Like i said on your FB thread, its no different than the Catholic Church moving their priests from place to place after they get caught with alter boys. Even if you arent doing it yourself, you are just as guilty for allowing it to continue. Might as well be molesting the kids yourself.

Thats just the ones that come forward.. This is one of the biggest serial rape cases ever. I'm sure the real number is much larger than 20.

.... and JoePa could have stopped it in 2002, instead, it goes on in his house for 9 more years.

Yeah, that would not be a good thing. From what I read, its like rape.. It's more of a control and dominace thing than sexual.. But who knows.. Fan174? Care to answer for us...

I completely agree with Wetzel. If they are going to part ways with JoePa, it has to be now. And everyone else involved gone before Saturdays game. I think that cancelling the rest of the season is overboard, as the current kids playing had no clue, and dont deserve punishment (as so often happens with a school is found guilty of something. USC anyone?)

But anyone involved has to go, and they have to go tomorrow.

How did this story break? I mean...isn't the timing kind of weird that it breaks shortly AFTER JoePa breaks the all time wins record?

No, the investigation has been going on for a year.

"In his Jan. 12 grand jury testimony, Curley says the graduate assistant reported only "inappropriate," not "sexual" conduct, calling the conduct "horsing around."

Even Paterno claimed in his grand jury testimony that the grad assistant was so distraught and disturbed by what he saw that I find it very hard to believe the grad assistant left out the part about sexual activities when talking to Curley. Clear cover up and mishandling of the situation by the university officials.
