Badger Basketball 2011-12

Postby medicalgary33 on Nov 30th, 2011, 2:07 am

7th in the nation now, or 9th, depending on the polls. What kind of statement would it be if we go into Chapel Hill and beat the Heels in our first meeting since the regional finals back in 2005.

Ohio State and the Badgers, both top 5 teams.

Fuck yeah

Should be good one tonight. It is going to be tough for the badgers to win on the road though.

I haven't been able to watch a game yet this year. Is this Brust guy the real deal? I heard he hit 7 3's at the tourny over the weekend.

I havent seen many games either. Kid has a nice looking shot. Be nice if he can keep it up in anyway.

kind of a slow release, but its fantastic shot. plus if he drains a few it sets up the dribble drive, and he has a quick first step.

Just happy that we've got more guys willing to drive. Seems like the Badgers have gotten in trouble the last couple of years when they were content to pass the ball around the outside for 30 seconds, then have one drive or a contested 3. A lot of that seemed to stem that guys weren't willing to drive and kick it back out to get defenders chasing. But Taylor is great at that, Gasser made big improvements in that area throughout the season last year, and Brust adds even more of that.

I fully endorse how Bo Ryan has decided to construct his teams. Even though they moved the line back a foot, the college 3 pointer is a joke. So you just put a team out there with nothing but guys who can hit a 3 and have them jack 40 a game. Why wouldn't you? It's just smart: it's an easy shot and it's worth the most points.

8 minutes in, 9 three pointers attempted (2-9). Not how the Badgers are going to consistently win.

Man, they need to start hitting shots. They are playing great defense right now. Only 21 points for UNC with 5 min left in the half.

If the actually start hitting some shots, they can take this. UNC must be having fits.

Team just looks dead out there right now. Shots not falling. And Evans drives me crazy. He'll look great for awhile, then make some boneheaded plays right after.

Are we a top 5 team? Not likely...but top 15 sure. We need some sharpshooters.

Same problem we've always had under Ryan's swing offense. They're WAY too content to shoot 3's, yet they don't have good enough shooters (no bad shooters, but no real great ones either).

Fucking idiots though. They wait until the shot clock gets down to 20 before they foul to stop the clock? Bet those extra 15 seconds would be helpful.

I am impressed with the defense though. Not many teams can hold UNC under 60

Piss poor 3 pt shooting cost them in this one. Played it close against a very good UNC team on the road. CAnt be disappointed ultimately.

Fucking figures, refs call everything a foul for 59 minutes and 40 seconds, then allow us to hack them when we're trying to stop the clock with no calls.

Sucks for the loss, but North Carolina is clearly one of the top 2 or 3 most talented teams in the country, and we played them damn tough at their home court with our shooting for shit.
