Utah is pretty much unrecognizable now. I'm kind of surprised at this trade, and it leaves me wondering if the Bulls are going to make a big run to get a SG before tomorrow's deadline.

Utah went from perennial playoff team under Jerry Sloan to a rebuilding team in a matter of 3 weeks. Deron is my favorite non-Bulls player in the NBA so this kinda sucks that he got traded to that dump of a team.

Somebody should have told Deron that the Nets play in New Jersey. Unless they do actually move to Brooklyn, he's stuck playing in that cesspool of a state.

D-Will couldn't do anything about it...they traded him. He did NOT sign an extension, so he's still going to be a FA next summer. Reports are he was unhappy with the trade.

That makes more sense. Unless the Nets have big plans for FA this summer, he'll be outta there.

I'm pretty sure they do have big plans for this summer....but my guess is those plans will end up just like last summer's plans, and their plan to acquire Carmelo...up in flames. This trade seems to me (and I'm certainly no expert on the NBA) like the Nets made it just so they could say they did SOMETHING, after "losing" out on Anthony. I have no idea who the big FA's are this summer, but I don't see them viewing the Nets as a good place to go, based on the chance to play w/Deron Williams for what likely will only be 1 year (unless whatever FA would be enough to convince him to sign an extension, but that's a HUGE risk IMO).

I could see the Knicks making a move to sign Deron this summer. Chris Paul is going to be a free agent, right? He's going to attract a lot of attention as well.

I think Williams is signed through next year...Paul I think is a FA this year though, and from what I've been hearing/reading, odds are he's NY-bound to team up with Amare, and now Anthony.

As a Bucks fan, I would have loved to see them make a play for Williams (if it was known he was on the block, or that he'd have been open to coming to Milwaukee). For that matter, I would have been ok with a trade of Jennings and (not sure what else it would have taken to get him...) for Harris. But that's just me, and I have this weird feeling people will think I'm an idiot for having that thought.

So Paul will probably be the big FA this summer. I think you're probably right, and he'll join up with Stoudemaire and Anthony to try to form their own Big 3 in New York. The Eastern Conference is going to be stacked next season.

...Except...I think I just read somewhere that Dwight Howard is a FA also, and who knows where he'd want to go (no doubt to a team that already has at least 1 superstar...), so if he were to leave Orlando for a Western Conference team, it would change things a bit.

Uh oh, I didn't know about Dwight Howard. That would be big if he chose to leave. It's hard to say which Western Conference team would really make a run at him, and that he'd actually want to go to. Dallas, San Antonio, or the Lakers seem most likely, but none of them have a pressing need for a big man.

I wonder every year how Cuban manages to sign so many players (Marion & Tyson Chandler come to mind), but if he could find a way, I would bet a paycheck he'd go after him.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Lakers make a run at him. Kobe/Gasol/Howard would be a nightmare trio to defend. I base that on the idea that both Odom and Artest would be out the door.

I don't see Howard being a fit in San Antonio though. I've thought for a few years now that once Duncan and/or Ginobili are done, the Spurs will go into rebuild mode. It could come sooner than that if Parker leaves (I want to say he's a FA this summer or next also).

If there was enough money to satisfy him, and he wanted to, it could be interesting if he signed with OKC (or a sign-and-trade was worked out) and teamed up with Durant, Westbrook and co. That'd be an exciting team to watch, and one I think I could actually root for.

I must have misremembered what I'd heard then!

What about Tony Parker? Better question, who will be a FA THIS summer? (I ask cuz I'm too lazy to look stuff like this up for myself?)

Yea, Tony Parker is unrestricted. Other than him, its pretty bare. Melo was the only superstar unrestricted going into this off-season. 2012 is where its at.

Other notables for 2011

Yao Ming (who knows if he will ever play again)
Jamal Crawford
Jason Richardson
Caron Butler
Tyson Chandler
Nene (ETO)
Andrei Kirilenko
Josh Howard
Zach Randolph

I can remember a time when Butler, Chandler, Howard and Kirilenko somewhat appealed to me as a Bucks fan. Right now, Chandler is about the only one on that list. Another 7 footer would be nice (1 that is a solid defender AND tall). Butler or Howard maybe, but as I havent really followed the NBA much at all this year (other than the non-stop Heat slobbering on ESPN that is nearly unavoidable), I have no idea what either is doing right now. Plus, either would create quite a log-jam at the SG or SF spots for the Bucks, with Magette, Salmons and Delfino already on the roster. And of course there aren't any PG's on that list, which is what I think the Bucks need more than anything.

Not at all. Devin Harris is a better player than Brandon Jennings.

Not sure what we could give up that would entice a trade for either of the top two PG's in the NBA that may be available, but I doubt it'd be enough without adding Bogut, and if we did I'd be shocked.

Who do we have that teams would like for cheap?

Luc, Sanders....Ersan?

Actually...I suppose we've got some pieces with some draft picks...

Harris is better now, but he is also 7 years older. I think Jennings probably has more trade value, and would prefer Jennings in the long-run. I still think Jennings is going to improve and become a star. I could be wrong, but he shows flashes of greatness that can't be ignored.
