Cavs acquire Davis, first-round pick from Clips for Mo, Moon CBSSports.com wire reports Feb. 24, 2011 INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- The Cleveland Cavaliers, looking to quicken their rebuilding after a stunning drop in the standings, have acquired point guard Baron Davis and a 2011 first-round draft pick from the Los Angeles Clippers for guard Mo Williams and forward Jamario Moon.
At 10-47, the Cavs have the league's worst record in their first season without two-time league MVP LeBron James. General manager Chris Grant announced the deal Thursday, three hours before the NBA's trade deadline.
The Cavs currently have two first-round and two second-round picks in June's draft.
In Cleveland, Davis will be reunited with Cavs coach Byron Scott. The two clashed during their time together in New Orleans.

I know Baron Davis has been wanting out of the Clippers organization for a while, but it seems like he's gone from one hopeless franchise right into another.

Baron Davis and Byron Scott had a huge falling out when both were in New Orleans. Same combo now in Cleveland. Should be interesting to see if they can co-exist on a horrible team.

PDcavsinsider Mary Schmitt Boyer Byron said he and Baron kissed & made up last preseason, was "touched" that Baron approached him to apologize for N.O. behavior. #Cavs

They very well could, but do you think LA wouldn't have lottery protected that pick? They're THAT close to having a lottery pick and I don't see them just giving it up for Mo Williams+Jamario Moon.

The pick is un-protected. Trade finalized. Clippers said they have enough young talent, want to add vets.

Sort of reminds me of when the Bucks traded Ray Allen to the (then) Sonics for Gary Payton when George Karl was the Bucks coach...they didn't get along all that well either when both were in Seattle. The funny (sort of, for those who could stop being Bucks AND Ray Allen fans long enough to wrap their minds around this...) part, was that they traded Allen with the theory that they'd be unable to re-sign him as a FA...Payton was a FA as well, and it was almost a given that either he or Karl would have to go, not to mention the fact that Payton wanted to play for a contender, and that wasn't going to be Milwaukee. ...Then I think it was 2 years later they gave a max deal to Michael Redd... I need a moment, I'm almost sobbing now!
