Prince Fielder as a Chicago CubI know this is a long ways off, but I'm curious to know what others think of the first base position for next year. I don't expect Carlos Pena to have a year worthy of bringing him back, and signing Albert Pujols doesn't seem like the obvious choice to me.

I'm actually in the Prince Fielder camp. Granted, he doesn't hit for quite the average that Albert does, and he's pretty freaking fat, but would he not be the left handed power bat this team has been trying to bring in for the last several years? Along with that, he's younger than Albert, so signing him to a long term deal is at least somewhat less risky.

I'll admit, analyzing statistics isn't my strong suit, so if someone has compelling reasons for why I'm way off base, I don't mind hearing it. Otherwise, I'd love to see others' thoughts on this one.
